Invite to “Exquisite Distinction” at NNW Bramley on Thursday 29th October

Exquisite Distinction – A new exhibition of paintings from The Master Shen Ming Cun

Due to the immense success of Shen Ming Cun’s exhibition at No Naked Walls Gallery in 2014 we are privileged to announce another major solo exhibition in the Bramley gallery this October. Shen Ming Cun’s masterfully skilled paintings will be coming to the Bramley gallery on the 29th October.

Born in 1956 Professor Shen Ming Cun is Senior Oil painting teaching and research Director and Professor at Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, specialising in European Classical painting.

His own paintings focus on capturing, distilling and representing the unique traditions, costumes and heritage of the minority tribes of Southern China, especially the Miao, the Dong, the Zhuang and the Yao.

The affinity and respect that Shen Ming has for these people is clear in his work as he preserves in paint the realities of their lives. In his figurative pieces he focuses on the ornate costumes worn for religious festivals, weddings and holiday celebrations. These stunning individual portraits contrast sharply with the large interiors, which give an intimate glimpse of the daily life of millions.

He has an empathy for the way in which these tribes live, their attitudes, culture and history as being the fundamental inspiration for his art.

He says “I have spent a long time researching the richly colourful cultural heritage of the Yao and Miao nationalities and the Dong minority of Southern China. Over the years I have lived amongst them and become friends with these beautiful people who radiate pure goodness and a simple love of life. Cultivating their ancestor’s achievements, they turn life into immortal art.”

These highly sought after and collectable pieces have met with International acclaim and feature in private collections worldwide. He has exhibited in Britain, Hong Kong, China, Singapore and New Zealand and has taken part in several important national exhibitions in Beijing, winning several major awards.

Private view by appointment. To reserve your exclusive viewing on Thursday 29th October 6.30pm – 9pm please contact the gallery or call (01483) 894466.
