‘Into the Blue – The Nature of the Shallows’ opens with a private view on Thursday 21st April from 6pm – 9pm, followed by a meet-the-artist event on Saturday 23rd April from 12pm – 4pm. The show will be on display until Saturday 7th May. To attend the Private View, please contact us at info@nonakedwalls.co.uk

Described as a “wildlife artist with a difference”, Paul’s paintings on sheet metal offer a unique pairing of subject matter with artistic processes, coalescing into a truly distinctive style of art. An avid diver, Paul travels globally to photograph terrestrial and aquatic wildlife, and has dived in most of the world’s oceans and seas. Paul is a four-time finalist in the prestigious international ‘David Shepherd Wildlife Artist of the Year‘ competition, which has gained his work favour with collectors across the country. Paul is also a keen conservationist and regularly donates portions of his proceeds to animal charities and ocean conservation organisations.

Forming the focus of his upcoming show with No Naked Walls, Paul’s aquatic subjects make for vibrant and captivating works of art. Paul is fascinated by the behaviour of his subjects, particularly the schooling behaviours of large shoals and those living in coral cities. For nearly a decade, Paul has worked with lacquered sheets of metal as his canvases. He achieves the complexity of his backgrounds by patinating copper with a variety of chemicals to achieve a semi-abstract effect. Paul then works with palettes of uplifting yellows, oranges, and pinks to lend a trendy contemporary feel to home interiors.

Unmistakably, it is Paul’s first-hand experience with marine life that gives his work that unique, inimitable edge. His work provides collectors with a snapshot of what being in the ocean is like; the excitement, variety, and wonder of the underwater world. From the bright neon colours of a coral reef, to the striking patterns of koi, he harnesses the natural textures of the patination process to explore all life connected with the water.

Paul’s aquatic subjects have become the centrepieces of many collectors’ homes. His work offers a perfect combination of entrancing imagery and luxurious colour, making his paintings an absolute must-see!
